My Ancestral Land
My ancestral land in Bentota is now home to Bentota Artisan Meat Products &
The Helsy, Bentota
We grow lots of vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in our four-acre land & mornings are filled with the chirps of birds and so much joy. We have chickens for fresh eggs and a couple of cows because Peter loves making his own cheese.
Bentota Artisan Meat Products was started by Peter, who was grumbling about not being able to find a decent pork sausage. Hence the bakery was set up to prepare authentic meat products and with Peter's unquestionable knowledge in farming and meat (which he gained when he was growing up and living in England) - he is serious about his meat) he even makes his own bacon and other rare to find meat products in Sri Lanka.
Following many requests from our ex-pat friends Peter started making home-made meat products, these products are available in our dishes served at our restaurant.
The Helsy Bentota is our newest addition, it's a brand-new British-food themed restaurant which also provides jobs to the lovely local community. We aim to gradually develop our brand in Sri Lanka's tourism & hospitality industry as our rooms being set up to ensure luxury and comfort will soon be ready for those who wish to stay in Sri Lanka for a while or perhaps throughout their retirement, in our tropical paradise surrounded by the Indian ocean and at my ancestral land.

"Ayubowan! I was born, grew up in and have lived in Bentota all my life. I am married to Peter, who is a retired British dental surgeon. We were both previously widowed and now we have three children of our own. I am the owner of The Helsy Bentota, a family-friendly British food restaurant which is set to serve some of my family's favourite dishes"
